The BeginnerPaceMaker app commits to respecting and protecting user privacy. This privacy policy explains what information we collect, use, and share.

Information Collection

Information We Directly Collect

This app does not directly collect any personal information from you. All data you enter (race profiles, gate settings, planned pace) is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to our servers:

  • Stored locally on your device using Android DataStore
  • Never transmitted to our servers
  • Deleted when you uninstall the app (unless exported by you)

Information Collected by Third Parties

This app uses Google’s speech recognition service for voice input. When you use the voice input feature, your voice data is sent to Google’s servers for processing. Google may collect:

  • Voice audio data (processed to convert speech to text)
  • Device information

The app does not use Google AdMob or any other advertising SDK. No advertising data is collected.

Purpose of Use

Information collected by third parties is used for:

  • Converting your spoken distance input to text (speech-to-text)

Third-Party Services and External Transmission

Service Provider: Google LLC
Service Name: Google Speech Recognition (via Android RecognizerIntent)
Transmission Destination: Google servers (including servers outside your country/region)

Information Transmitted to External Parties:

  • Voice audio data (only when you tap the microphone button and speak)

Purpose of External Transmission:

  • Speech-to-text conversion for distance input

How to Avoid External Transmission:

Voice input is an optional feature. You can enter your distance manually by typing in the distance field, without using the microphone. If you do not tap the microphone button, no voice data is sent to any external server.

Health Connect (Activity Distance Data)

This app can optionally read activity distance data from Android Health Connect to automatically update your current distance. Health Connect data is read locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers or any external party.

  • Permission: android.permission.health.READ_DISTANCE
  • Data accessed: Distance (km) recorded during your current activity session
  • Data usage: Displayed on screen and used for pace calculation only
  • Data storage: Not stored persistently; read in real time during an active tracking session

You can revoke Health Connect permission at any time through the Health Connect app or Android system settings.

Data Retention Period

App Data (race profiles, gate settings, planned pace): Retained on device until the app is uninstalled, or until you delete it manually within the app (Settings → delete profile).

Exported JSON files: Retained wherever you save them, under your full control.

Speech recognition data: Managed by Google LLC according to their retention policies. Please refer to Google’s privacy policy.

International Data Transfers

Voice data processed by Google’s speech recognition service may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your country of residence, including the United States. Google uses standard contractual clauses and other mechanisms to ensure adequate protection of your data.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

  • Access: Request information about data collected about you
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your data
  • Opt-Out: Avoid using the voice input feature to prevent voice data from being sent to Google
  • Data Portability: Export your race profiles as a JSON file using the Export feature
  • Objection: Object to certain data processing activities

To exercise these rights regarding Google speech recognition data, please refer to Google’s privacy settings or contact Google directly.

California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

  • Categories of Personal Information: Voice audio data (only when using voice input)
  • Sharing/Sale: We do not sell personal information. Voice data is sent to Google solely for speech-to-text conversion.
  • Right to Know: You can request what personal information has been collected
  • Right to Delete: You can request deletion of your information
  • Right to Opt-Out: Avoid using the microphone button to prevent any voice data transmission

European Users (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), UK, or Switzerland:

Legal Basis for Processing:

  • Consent (voice data is sent to Google only when you actively tap the microphone button)

Your Rights:

  • Right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, and objection
  • Right to withdraw consent at any time (by not using the voice input feature)
  • Right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

Data Controller: Google LLC acts as data controller for speech recognition data

Permissions

The app requests the following permissions:

  • RECORD_AUDIO / Microphone: Required for voice input of your current distance. Used only when you tap the microphone button. Voice data is processed by Google’s speech recognition service.
  • POST_NOTIFICATIONS: Required to display the foreground service notification while pace tracking is active.
  • Health Connect (READ_DISTANCE): Optional. Required to automatically read activity distance from Health Connect. You are prompted to grant this permission before first use; it can be revoked at any time.

The app does NOT request permissions for:

  • Internet access (the app itself does not connect to the internet; Google speech recognition is invoked via Android system intent)
  • Location (precise or approximate location tracking)
  • Contacts
  • Camera
  • Storage (reading/writing external files beyond the export/import feature)

Children’s Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

This app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.

If you believe a child under 13 has used the voice input feature, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information:

  • All race profiles and settings are processed and stored locally on your device
  • We do not store any user data on our servers
  • Voice data, when transmitted, is protected by Google’s security measures (encryption in transit)
  • Health Connect data is accessed locally and never transmitted externally

However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Policy Changes

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

音声入力は任意機能です。マイクボタンをタップせず、距離入力欄に数値を直接入力することで、音声データを外部に送信することなく本アプリを使用できます。

Health Connect（活動距離データ）について

本アプリは、Android Health Connect から活動距離データを読み取り、現在距離を自動的に更新する機能をオプションで提供します。Health Connect のデータはデバイス上でローカルに読み取られ、当社のサーバーや外部に送信されることはありません。

  • 権限: android.permission.health.READ_DISTANCE
  • アクセスするデータ: 現在のアクティビティセッション中に記録された距離（km）
  • データの用途: 画面表示およびペース計算のみ
  • データの保存: 永続的には保存しません。アクティブなトラッキングセッション中にリアルタイムで読み取るのみです

Health Connect の権限は、Health Connect アプリまたは Android システム設定からいつでも取り消すことができます。

データの保持期間

アプリデータ（レースプロフィール・関門設定・予定ペース）: アプリをアンインストールするまでデバイス上に保持されます。アプリ内のプロフィール削除機能で手動削除することもできます。

エクスポートした JSON ファイル: お客様が保存した場所に保持され、お客様が完全に管理できます。

音声認識データ: Google LLC が保持ポリシーに従って管理します。詳細は Google のプライバシーポリシー をご参照ください。

国際的なデータ転送

Google の音声認識サービスによって処理される音声データは、お客様の居住国以外の国（米国を含む）に転送され、処理される場合があります。Google は、標準契約条項およびその他の仕組みを使用して、お客様のデータの適切な保護を確保しています。

お客様の権利

お客様の所在地によって、以下の権利を有する場合があります：

  • アクセス権: お客様について収集されたデータに関する情報を要求する権利
  • 削除権: お客様のデータの削除を要求する権利
  • オプトアウト: 音声入力機能を使用しないことで、音声データが Google に送信されることを回避できます

権限

本アプリは以下の権限を要求します：

13歳未満の子供が音声入力機能を使用したと思われる場合は、当社までご連絡ください。適切な措置を講じます。

セキュリティ

当社は、お客様の情報を保護するために合理的な措置を講じています：

  • レースプロフィールおよび設定はすべてお客様のデバイス上でローカルに処理・保存されます
  • 当社のサーバーにユーザーデータを保存することはありません
  • 音声データは、送信される場合、Google のセキュリティ対策（転送中の暗号化）によって保護されます
  • Health Connect のデータはローカルでアクセスされ、外部に送信されることはありません

ただし、電子的な送信または保存の方法は100%安全ではありません。お客様の情報を保護するよう努めていますが、絶対的なセキュリティを保証することはできません。

ポリシーの変更

当社は、本プライバシーポリシーを随時更新する場合があります。変更を行う際は、本ポリシーの上部にある「最終更新日」を更新します。本ポリシーを定期的にご確認いただくことをお勧めします。変更後もアプリを継続して使用することは、更新されたポリシーへの同意を意味します。
