Introducing WordQuest, a PWA for Learning English Words as a Game
I released WordQuest, a PWA that turns English vocabulary study into a game. It combines multiple-choice quizzes and a time-attack mode with combos and spaced repetition (SRS) so words stick while you play.
Two Modes to Keep You Going
On the home screen you first pick a deck, then choose how you want to play. It shows your mastery level and how many words are available, so you can see at a glance how much you already know.
- Multiple-choice quiz — A take-your-time mode. With spaced repetition (SRS), the words you struggle with appear more often.
- Time attack — See how many correct answers you can score in 60 seconds. Answer streaks raise your combo multiplier.
The top-right corner shows your learning streak (🔥) and total score (🏆), and watching those numbers grow is a nice bit of motivation to keep coming back.
The Quiz Screen Is Simple — Just Pick the Meaning
The quiz screen shows the English word and its phonetic spelling in large type, and you choose the correct meaning from the four options below. Tap “Listen to pronunciation” to hear the word on the spot.
The remaining-questions bar and score (⭐) at the top let you see how far along you are. Aiming for streaks and answering at a good pace naturally keeps you focused on each word.
Build Your Own Decks
WordQuest comes with a basic deck, but you can also import JSON / CSV to build your own study sets. Sample decks such as travel English and core vocabulary are provided, so they double as a format reference.
You can even hand a dedicated prompt to an AI like ChatGPT and get an importable deck just by specifying a topic and word count. The product page walks through the details.
